THE TESTAMENT OF SOLOMON FORD

PART ONE


	The new ghost appeared to Caleb Temple in his bedroom 
at the boarding house!  He was clad as a seventeenth century 
gentleman. His appearance was that of a man in his sixties!
	His first words to Caleb were :"Do not be afraid your sister 
will be back. We dead people cannot be destroyed that way! We can 
be hurt! But your sister will regenerate it will take five and half years ! 
Until them I am your substitute ghost!
	Caleb asked: "Who are you?"
	The answer was:"Captain Solomon Ford your indirect 
ancestor! For the first part of who I am say great ten times over and 
then you reach granduncle. That is the difference between direct 
ancestor and indirect"
	"For the second part you cannot imagine what it is to know 
that something is right all your life! But then after death when it come 
time for judgement heaven says it was evil! 
	"The first part of my life was much as yours. Things happened 
to me for the same reason Sheriff Buck attacked your mother and 
wants to raise you.  Someone who has descendants and may sue for 
slander if I tell you his name and you repeated this represented the 
same evil as your father! The day before I ran from that craziness the 
church said slavery was good! I ran to sea! I rose to be captain of my 
own ship! Now tell me! Show me how smart you are and tell me what 
I was in second part of my life!
	Caleb answered:"You were a slave trader!"
	The Captain said:"Yes! I became very rich at it!"   
	Merlin's angry voice offscreen:"That was how Captain Ford 
usurped my place!  Lucas's attempt to seduce Caleb became repetitive. 
Then in second year less frequent. In the two years that followed he 
persuaded Caleb to take to computers! Caleb's grades improved 
greatly!  He became an A and B student. Computers became his 
"escape" as far as the rest of the world knew! What no one but Caleb,
the dead,demons angels,God and the Devil knew was that Captain 
Ford was teaching Caleb the power he was born to have!  By six 
months before the time I resumed my place he was more powerful 
than a fifteen old should be! Yet Captain Ford was not done yet!"
       When Caleb decided to visit Charleston after these years he 
asked his cousin to take him! She brought his half brother with him!
       Caleb asked his cousin Gail:"Would you take me to Charleston?" 
       Gail answered:"At long last huh Caleb! Hope you like the back 
seat so you can play with your half brother!"
       They went through Lucas Buck's first obstacle a man in the 
middle of the road. Caleb telekinetically moved him to elsewhere. 
The second obstacle was a tree falling before them in the road. 
Caleb deflected that too. Then Lucas tried fire! Caleb put it out with 
his Cousin noticing all three. 
     Both Lucas and Gail each realized that this was Caleb's doing. 
Both were worrying.  Lucas worried that he will never see either sons 
again! Gail is afraid  of a repeat of what happened when everyone 
thought Lucas had died! 
      When they stop for lunch Gail was obviously disturbed. They are in 
this pretty little cafe.
      She said:"It was good the way you got us out of Trinity! But it 
reminded me of the way you behaved when we thought your father 
had died!
      He said:"Please forgive that!!"
      Gail gently replied:"I already have! You saved my life before 
remember? But I have not forgotten!  That is because I am afraid it 
will happen to my son!" 
       "Lucas will always be a part of me and my half brother!"regreted 
Caleb.
       After a moment he said:" But I have learned how to control my 
power!"
       Gail assumed:'Lucas taught you!"
       Caleb decided to be honest:"Lucas can read minds. If I tell you 
the whole truth I would be breaking my promise to the one who has 
been teaching me. Over the past nearly fiveu years I have been learning 
to control my power and suppress my evil from someone who does 
not want Lucas to know he exists! If Lucas pick up this what can he 
do? Turn Trinity upside down for someone whose face and name are 
unknown?"
       Gail was intrigued:"Are you afraid he will read my mind?"
       Caleb said telepathically:"Yes! Gail only now can I safely tell you 
this 'love' you feel is a trick! It is called empathy by those in the know! 
That is why you cannot resist him!  But I can teach you to do it! Would 
you NOT murder my father for what he has and will in the future do to 
you?"
      "Do you mean this desire to lay with Lucas?"Gail leaped at the 
chance:"Yes Caleb!"
      They shook on it!            
       His father is another story! He seeks legal remedy for this!
      Lucas Buck was in the office of William Bell Attorney-at-law. 
      Bell asked:"Why have you not claimed the boy at the previous 
proceedings? You are the natural father!"
      "I did not want the to scandalize the boy's reputation!" was the 
answer.
      "His reputation was worse as the son of Gage Temple!" the lawyer 
said. "I am sorry but I see no hope. Miss Holt has done a fine job! We 
cannot prove otherwise."
      At the Charleston Tribune Caleb was given permission to use 
their computer! He made two withdrawals from a Swiss bank!  The 
first went into the account of his late stepfather! The other is specially 
arranged with the banks of the affluent in Charleston!   Each 
withdrawal is in the amount of one million dollars! 
      A man came in to The Sheriff offices in Trinity. He identified 
himself as Roger Stark of IRS.  
      He told Sheriff Buck:"We do not understand how one of your 
citizens gain one million dollars yesterday. This is especially puzzling 
because he has been dead for years."
      The Sheriff puzzeled:"What was his name?"
      Stark said:"Gage Temple! Yesterday someone transfered one 
million dollars into his account!"
      Buck said:"There must be some mistake..."
      Stark said:"Yes but I cannot find it in the computers! It is either 
in the hard copy or there is a crime here! Now I could get a 
warrant! But Temple's suicide was in your jurisdiction I suggest 
we look together! Interagency cooperation!"
      Buck said:"Sure!"
      One hour later they are in talking outside the bank.
      Stark said:"I am calling the U.S. Marshal Service!"
      Buck looks as though he does not like it one bit!
      The Marshal arrives that afternoon. He looks over the evidence 
of Gage's death come to the conclusion it was murder convinces his 
office to have the Swiss open the records on the account. They find
that it belonged to the grandparents of  Caleb and Gail! It an 
original deposit  $30.000,000.00. This was in September 1940. 
They also discover the other withdrawal.
     Marshal James Long spoke over the phone at the Trinity Sheriff 
Offices Ben Healy is listening.
     Marshal Long said:"Deputy listen up. The coroner five years ago 
claimed he did two autopsies in an hour. I think the Temples were the 
victim of Murder by someone else than themselves. Gage Temple's
death was probably not a suicide.  His daughter may not have been 
her father's victim.  Also take this to the U.S. Attorney and get this 
Swiss account opened account opened.  Find out who owns it and 
who made that withdrawal.  I want you to check the only witness. 
Have him tell his side of the story again. Caleb Temple fifteen years 
old. Son and brother of the victims. He is staying with his cousin Gail
Emory is Charleston. Also ask him about the Bank account he may 
know about it."     
      In Charleston it was a rainy morning. But Caleb was pleased with 
Gail's progress. 
      Caleb said:"Your learning real well! A few days practice and 
you can return to Trinity!"
      Gail said:"But we are free here...."
      Caleb interupted:"The one who taught me was also a symbol of 
what can happen when you succeed in running away from this!"
      Gail asked:"Then why did you come here?"
      Caleb said:"To teach you and see the sights. Nothing wrong 
with a vacation!"
      "What happened to this teacher?"Gail wondered.
      "He became another evil. Quite different from Lucas Buck. 
Running away was not the only reason! But it second to starting 
the process!"
      Gail realized that is what Caleb thought would happen to them 
all! But she said nothing!
      That afternoon in Charleston Caleb saw an assassin try to kill 
the governor! He threw himself into the line of fire! He was 
wounded and went down! He was rushed to the hospital! He 
will live!


		THE END OF PART ONE

PART TWO


     The afternoon after the end of part one Gail, Caleb and her baby 
were next to watching the Governor return from the conference!
Caleb saw a gunman about to take a shot at the Governor! Caleb 
moved fast - the first two shots hit Caleb.The third hit the Governor.  
They both went down before the police restrained the gunner.
      Within the hour the radio bring this news to Trinity! Lucas 
immediately leaves Deputy Healy in charge to go to Charleston! 
     The young people were sad. One teenage boy named Zack 
and his girl Andrea were particular peeved.
     Zack said:"First we had to temporarily drop calling him "Crazy 
Temple" because he helped the Feds nab that fugitive and got the
 reward!"
     Andrea said:"Now he is a hero again before we can start it 
again!"
     Zack said sadly:"Maybe he is not crazy!"
     Andrea said:"He burned down his house!"
     Zack said:"Perhaps to destroy the evidence that his father was 
an international criminal!"
     Andrea said:"That is probably what the Bank is about?"
     One hour later the Marshal has discovered that the Swiss account 
belongs to two partners. They are Caleb Temple and Gail Emory.  
He decides to go to Charleston to find out more about it! He tells 
no one in Trinity!        
     While Caleb recovers Gail is questioned about the Account. 
She knows nothing.
     At the hospital in Charleston Gail was waiting for word of 
Caleb's condition! Then the Marshal approached her!
     The Marshal identifies himself and said:"Sorry about your 
cousin! What do you know about your Uncle's bank account?"
     Gail said:"I do not know what you are talking about!"
     The Marshal said:"I am talking about $1,000,000.00 
deposited in Gage Temple's account. A deposit made five 
years after he is dead. 
     Before Gail could open her mouth, a doctor comes in!
     The Doctor asks:"Ms. Emory, is there something about 
your cousin's chemistry I should know? He is going to live it 
seems.  After taking such a shot that should have killed him - he 
will recover in a matter of hours!"
     "Can I see him?"Gail was eager.
     "Do you know how this healing is possible?"asked the Doctor.
     "No I do not!"Gail replied.
     "A nearby nurse said:"Mr. Temple is conscious and asking 
for his cousin Gail."
     "Go ahead":said the Doctor.
      "I need to see him too it is police businessc!":said the Marshal 
flashing his badge.
     A moment later Gail asked"How are you feeling?"
     Caleb answered:"Just like I was slugged in the chest!"
     The doctor said:"You are a medical wonder! You will be all 
right in a matter of hours."
     "Who is he?" Caleb asked pointing to the Marshal.
     Displaying his badge the Marshal said:"Marshal James Long. 
I would like to ask about your father's bank account!"
      "You mean my stepfather Gage Temple?"asked Caleb.
      "I thought Gage Temple was your father!" said the Marshal 	    
      "Most people do. That is one of my problems! He was a bad 
man!" answered Caleb.
     "But we know that your grandparents were the owners of that 
money...":began the Marshal.
     "It works!" shouted Caleb. The he realized:"Wait who are the 
owners now?!"
     "Now you two are the owners. but she claims she does not 
know": said the Marshal.
     "She is telling the truth":said Caleb.
     He contined: "When I discovered the money I suspected it 
belonged to me and Gail. But I did not know for sure. So I 
framed my stepfather."
     As he stops to catch his breath Gail asks:"For what crime?"
     After he catches his breath Caleb said:"Daddy had such a 
bad reputation that you do not need to commit a crime to frame 
him for a crime.  Besides a new crime would have established 
that it had happened after five years ago. When it is Gage 
Temple you do not need a new crime for everyone to assume 
that murder was involved. I figured Interpol would figure out 
the rightful owners."
     After a moment the Marshal said:"You set up a false alarm 
for your own purposes? It worked except instead of Interpol 
it was the U.S. Marshals Service. You and she are the owners."
     He stormed out! 
     "What money?"asked Gail
     "Money our grandparents put in a Swiss account!"was the 
answer.       
     Caleb took advantage of her stunned silence to say:"If I was 
wrong in my suspicion as to who owned the money then maybe 
the owner would forgive because they did not know any other 
way! If I was right then nothing illegal happened. Either way I 
wanted neither the sheriff nor anyone controlled by him involved 
in finding out! I wanted this done by people who were impartial!"
     Gail understood:"It is ours!"
     "The whole $63,000.000.00":said Caleb. 
     "I will give you the facts and your half after I am out of here!"
he finished.
     Just then Lucas Buck comes in. He is smiling!
     "How are you feeling Caleb?"He asks.
     "I am fine! Are you jeolous?"Caleb asks.
     "Jealous of what!?"asked Lucas.
     "I have the respect you always wanted!"answered Caleb.
     "People do not remember heroes very long!"replied Lucas
     "That is true Caleb!"said Gail.
     Caleb decided to change the subject:"I have been teaching Gail. 
She can fight your empathy off now!"
     Lucas began to say:"Can....?"
     Then he was startled with the rightness of it! For a few minutes 
Lucas and Gail fight a battle only Caleb could see even if some 
had been there! Which no one was! Caleb laughed when Gail 
won!
     "This is double joy! I feel like Pinocchio watching Father 
Geppetto stick himself with needles! I am also a proud teacher!"  
Caleb gloated. 
     "But where did you learn this stuff?"asked his father.
     "Read her mind!"answered Caleb
     As Gail started to object Lucas muttered:"Another Ghost!
     He then stormed out the room!  
     "What was that?"asked Gail 
     "I will show you later!"was the answer.  	         	
    The next day at 2:00 PM the money was split. Miss Holt had 
been informed. Gail and Caleb were in her apartment.    
    Gail asked Caleb:"What will be your next trick?"
    "I am going to bring my mother back as ghost!":was the answer.
    Gail was in awe! She looked at her baby. He would someday 
be capable of this too?
    Caleb fell to his knees  and: "Powers of light send me my mother 
Judith Temple!"
     Judith Temple stood in middle of Gail's room. She smiled at her 
son: "Hello Caleb! Hello dear Niece" were her first words to any 
living person in fifteen years. 
    Caleb and Gail simultaneously said:"Hello Mother/Aunt Judith!"
    Caleb put his hand threw her and said:"Yes it feel like family all 
right?! Gail do what I just done!"
    Gail complied and said:"This is incredible!"
    Judith said:"Caleb every time I thought of the possibility you might 
turn out good I dreamt of this.  But why did you bring Gail into it?"
    Caleb answered:"Both my reasons have to do with the fact that 
I am going to be preventing my father from learning what I am up to.
I am going to do this by keeping Gail in the dark. That way he cannot 
read her mind. The first reason is that I have done all I can to 
straighten her out. Now I do not know what more to do."
    Gail said:"I was all right before your father entered my life. I will 
be all right again. You have given all the help I need. Thank you!"
    Judith assured her son:"That is right! Even if it is wrong you have 
done as much as you could! Let us proceed to the next topic."
    Caleb said:"What I am about to say is unfair! The injustice is on 
those who were forced as you by my father! It is also upon those 
who otherwise coerced as Gail was. But you adults except Miss 
Holt have made a wreck out of my life!"    
    Judith nodded in agreement. Gail flushed in embarrassment.
    Judith said:"That is indeed unjust. Gail forgave you for your 
transgressions. She forgave what you did to her baby when you 
were under Lucas's spell."
    Gail said:"It was not a dream.  Our Grandparents did come 
to me in vision and told me to forgive! They proved it by correctly 
predicting  that Selena Coombs would be gone by the time I came 
out!"  
    Judith said to Gail said to Gail:"Thank you for the forgiveness! 
Treat your son with love in your heart. Do not let him hate! I will 
then be happy to persuade my son to not regard you that way! 
After he reaches Caleb's stage and retains his probity sic."
    Caleb asked:"Would it be sinful to try to take control of my 
life?"
    Judith answered:"As long as Miss Holt is alive yes! After she is 
gone you may have to take drastic steps. You must not let Lucas 
raise you! But it would not be wise to not have a living adult with 
you!"
    She pointed to Gail and said:"Give her a chance. As you point 
out she did not have one before. But Gail anything against Lucas 
has my blessing he needs not your permission!" 
     Gail agreed:"Yes Aunt Judith!"
     "My condolences, Niece, that your parents are both in Hell!"
Judith said before she vanished.
    Judith asked:"Caleb are you going to kill Lucas Buck?"
    "No! I ain't no patricide!" answered Caleb.
     "But I know why you ask!  He killed my stepfather, you and 
Merlyn! It means a lot to me! But I still ain't no patricide!"
continued Caleb. 
      "I will take this up again at later time":Judith said.
      Caleb said:"She is gone!"      
     After a moment he said:"What is this about our grandparents? 
You never said anything before!"
     "They came in vision while I was in that recovering from what 
you did! They picked then to show themselves! They seem to favor 
you": was the answer.
      That night Judith appeared again. She woke her son.
     "I have noticed you did not mind this when Meryin did it!":she 
started. 
     "True. I brought you so you could tell me right from wrong!  I 
trust his intentions! But the Captain has been wrong about this 
before!:"said Caleb.
     Judith answered:"It is a sin to tolerate evil unless one has not 
the power to make a difference! You are the only one who can 
kill Lucas Buck! You know what is at stake! Patricide is very 
much a part of your paternal heritage! It is also a sin. But being 
caught between two sins with no third option has never by itself 
condemned anyone to Hell!"
     "I have a few other ideas! Ones that do not get him killed!"
answered Caleb.
     "No, my Son, he must die!"said Judith.  "You are the only 
one who can do it! The jail cannot hold him!  The courts could 
not convict even if they had evidence! Sitting by him every day 
a man who wants to a good cop does what he can!  But it is 
not enough!"
      "After I get back to Trinity I will prove you wrong about that!"
replied Caleb.
        Judith said:"If you  are wrong? Will you kill him then?"
       Caleb said:"I ain't no patricide! Besides if I do kill him his 
spirit moves into my brother! It is his evil not him who must be 
killed" 
       Then he went back to sleep! 

		THE END OF PART TWO


PART THREE


    It is two days since the end of Part Two. In Gail's Charleston 
apartment Judith appeared to her niece. 
    Judith opens the conversation urgently: "Either Caleb becomes 
another Lucas or he never uses his power teaches his children to 
never use their powers. There is no third alternative. But I am 
unable to persuade him of what just told you! Please help!"
    Caleb entered the room: "She wants me to repeat a mistake 
of our family history originally made by the daughter of  David 
Ford. This mistake has done more to create the situation then 
my father has!"
     His mother's ghost wires furiously: "You are referring to my 
husband I trust!"
     Caleb said: "No to Lucas Buck, ma'am."
     Gail was curious: "What mistake was this?"
     Caleb said: "Not teaching her children how to use this power! 
In fact teaching them that this power was a childhood fantasy. 
In fact it was part of them. Over generations it weakened until 
their progeny had visions,could be taught to resist Empathy 
and that is it!"
      "She was also half sister to the ancestor of  Lucas Buck . 
This was more than ten generations ago regardless of which 
side of the family we are talking about. So incest is not among 
father's many crimes!.
      "For all that time all but one member of this family had all this 
power was neither evil nor stupid. That was David Ford. He 
seemed like the sixteenth and seventeenth century idea of a 
Medical Doctor. But that was he had such a low fatality rate."
    "I think I can do it again! That is what I want!"
    Gail said: "To be a doctor?"
    Caleb said: "To use these powers to help people. I shall think 
of the details later."
    Gail asked her aunt: "What is wrong with that?"
    Judith said: "Everyone of  those who had this power and tried 
to use it for good became some other kind of villain instead."
    Caleb said: "That is because they lacked either heart or brains! 
Starting with the Ancestress."
     Gail said: "You are being disrespectful!"
     Caleb said: "If she had not then both our mothers would be alive 
today!"
     Gail realized: "That is right! My father would never have beaten 
her. Caleb has a point!
     Judith asked: "Are you going to follow him?" 
     Gail replied: "I do not understand!"
    Judith clarified: "He has the power! Are you going to do as 
he says?"
    Gail answered:  "When I agree!"
   Caleb said: "Let us start at square one! How do we fight father? 
I have a few ideas!"
   "Such as?": said both Aunt and Niece simultaneously.
    "Why not buy the Trinity Guardian and radio station?" Caleb 
answered.
    Gail nodded: "The power of the press instead of patricide!"
    Caleb said: 'Exactly!"
    So the transaction was completed before they returned to 
Trinity! They knew they could not run from Lucas Buck! They 
could only buy vacation time. But Caleb told no one what he 
was up to! But he was going to be in command of this situation! 
He was no longer going to be told what to do!
       Meanwhile in Trinity a race riot breaks out! Six members 
of the Klu Klux Klan attack Ms. Holt. Then suddenly Captain 
Ford appears. Sword in hand he fights them off with ease.
        Ms. Holt asks: "Who are you  Sir?"
        The answer is: "You would not believe it if you heard."
        Captain Ford disappears! Suddenly a force like an explosion 
hits the KKK. It knocks them down. No one is hurt everyone on 
all sides if frightened. All flee in terror. 
        The next day Caleb and Gail returned to Trinity. One hour 
after school was out Caleb asked Gail: "Do you think you can 
get me to see your friend Holly Gallagher for fifteen minutes?"
       Gail answered:  "I think so. Why?"
       Caleb said: "I have a plan! But keep the mother out the 
room where Holly and I are for fifteen minutes."
        When they arrived Holly was still vegetable! They were given 
permission by Mrs. Gallagher while she attended one of her 
consultations! Gail sat in on it. Twenty minutes. Holly came down 
and burst into the session. 
       Holly said: "How did I get here?" 
        Mrs.Gallagher replied: "I brought you back from the 
sanitarium!"
        "What was I doing in a sanitarium!?"asked Holly.
         Her mother asked: "What is the matter?"
         "Last thing I remember I was driving with Lucas Buck the 
next I am in my room with the same boy whom we were talking 
about! He was a baby then. Now look at him!"  Holly pointed 
and there was Caleb standing on the steps smiling!
         She goes to the radio station.  She then tells the truth.  The 
story of the autopsies leak. National papers pick it up!
         Gail  said: "Do you remember what happened to your car?"
         Two hour later Holly was on the air on Gail's Radio station
       She told the people: "fifteen years ago I was employed at 
the Fulton Hospital as a nurse. I was asked by Sheriff Buck to 
sneak a file out of the hospital. He claimed to be investigating 
a suicide of one Judith Temple. In fact I realized he was father 
of Caleb Temple. He wanted to look at his son's file. I said I 
was going to tell everyone.  We were in my car at the time. 
He was driving. His way to shut me up was to drive the car off 
the bridge. Last thing I remember was falling of  Johnson Bridge! 
I do not recall hitting water.  Next thing I know it is fifteen years 
later!"
       Gail said: "When I investigated your apparent death I had 
clues that you were romantically involved with Sheriff  Buck. 
All I knew for sure was that I could not break his story."
        "That is right I was being used": answered Holly.
         One hour later Gail had Caleb alone and asked: "Why did 
you not ask Holly to suppress her knowledge of you? You are 
now suspect of being Lucas Buck's son."
         Caleb answered : "In the past and future there have been 
and will be too many lies already! Why add to them? I have to 
keep the existence of these powers secret."
         County  Commissioner  Streeter  was in  Juniper House 
Sanitarium. He was alone with Dr. Matt Crower M.D. This on 
the day after the broadcast.
         Streeter said: "After Ms. Galleger made that announcement 
it leaked that from the United States Marshal's office that there 
was an investigation into how those autopsies were done so fast. 
In short we have to distance ourselves from the perception that 
we are in Sheriff Buck's pocket before it is to late.  Therefore as 
of this day you are free. Your medical license is restored. Your 
contract with Fulton County hospital is restored. Your room 
is arranged at the boarding house. All will be well soon!"
      One hour later Matt is back! As soon as he returns to the 
boarding house Matt is greeted by Gail. It is a warm greeting! 
      "But I do not know how Caleb is going to take it?!"she 
remarks. 
      "Has he grown found of  the Sheriff?"  Matt asked.
      "Lucas is his father!"Gail said.
      "Then I tried to kill Caleb's Dad!"said a disturbed Matt.
       Just then an eagle flies through the window! He morphs 
into Caleb Temple.
       "Hello Dr. Matt": said Caleb.
        After a moment Matt said: "Caleb I do not know what 
say!"
       Gail and Caleb take turns explaining it to Matt. Then Matt 
said: "My god! What else is possible?"
        That night Captain Ford awoke Caleb: "Your cousin will 
be raped unless you stop it!"
         Sheriff  Buck came into Gail house. He had a wicked smile! 
         But  before he could do anything or Gail could say anything 
Caleb arrived. He appeared out of nowhere. The Sheriff and his 
Son's eyes locked. For ten minute neither spoke. 
        Then Lucas said:"You cannot do that!"
        Their eyes locked again. This time for one minute. 
         "How did you do that?"asked the father.
         "Hands off my cousin or I will do it again!"was the answer.
          Lucas left in hurry! He was humiliated.
         Gail asked: "What did you do?!"
         Caleb said: 'I will tell you in the morning."
         The next morning she was driving Caleb to school. She asked 
again.
         He explained:  "I downloaded first his knowledge of evil. 
Then of police work." .
          "What else is possible?!"Gail asked, awed.
           The next morning Lucas Buck has urgently summoned by 
the county board of Commissioners. Streeter was presiding.
             Streeter got right to the point: "Sheriff we have a problem. 
You have been accused with plausible evidence of  heinous crimes. 
We cannot ignore that. You are also a powerful man. We cannot 
ignore that. So our request is one you can turn down. But we are 
requesting your resignation!"
             "Request denied!"was the answer.
             "Very well meeting adjourned": was the apparent end
             "One of the commissioners took him aside and asked: "Ok, 
do not resign just do not run next term. Run in 2005. Then we will 
have forgotten this."
             Lucas Buck leaves without answering! But this story is not 
over.      
             Later that afternoon  a man goes out the window of  the 
Fulton County Hospital!  He is caught? by an eagle and set 
harmlessly down. The eagle flew off. No one had any idea where 
it came from.
             Matt asked: "Caleb you and your father have one thing in 
common! You are the last on the scene. Your father was last on the 
scene on the murder I suspect him of. You were last on the scene 
when these patients were healed. All were terminal!"
     Caleb said: "I am my father's son! but I am good!"
     Suddenly Lucas appears. He looks at his son.
     "I intended for you to be more powerful than any mortal mind can 
imagine!  Now you are more powerful than that. Who taught you!?" 
He asked.
     "Someone who told me that this power was meant to be evil": 
was the answer.
     "Well there are two things you can do. You can be like me! Or 
you can forget you have these powers. You can make you children 
forget. Then along comes something and they are helpless to stop it!" 
said Lucas.
      "I reject both," said Caleb. "I shall find a better way!"


THE END?



	In the event that this proves to be the Second Series 
premier of American Gothic then the series shall be primarily about:
1)  Caleb's search for good purpose to his powers. In so doing he 
accepts the love and attention of Merlyn who returns at the mid 
season. 
2)  Sheriff Buck clinging to office. After the fifth episode he is 
reelected by a legitimate landslide. As far as Caleb is concerned 
these event clears Caleb of any charge of tolerating evil.
3)  Dr. Matt Crower makes  the difference he wanted to make! He 
also becomes fascinated by the power that was meant to be evil.
4)  Until Merlyn returns the Captain is still Caleb’s spirit guardian. 
He even gets a chance sea command again. Those who know of 
ghost know Caleb is but the first mate among the crew. Other 
think Caleb was in command.
